Is it better to submit an SAT/ACT score or apply test-optional?

Hey there, I'm a high school junior and I recently took the SAT. My score isn't bad, but it's not exactly what I was hoping for. With many colleges now offering test-optional admissions, I'm wondering if it would be better for me to submit my score or apply test-optional. What's the general consensus on this? I'd really appreciate some guidance! Thanks in advance.

Hello! It's great to see that you're being proactive about your college application process.

The decision to submit SAT/ACT scores or go test-optional really depends on your individual situation. If your score falls within or above the middle 50% range for the colleges you're interested in, it might be beneficial to submit it. However, if your score is below the average for those schools, applying test-optional could be a better choice.

Keep in mind that colleges will place more emphasis on other aspects of your application if you choose to go test-optional. This includes your GPA, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation. Make sure you have a strong application in those areas if you decide not to submit your test scores.

Ultimately, you should do what you feel is best for your application. Good luck, and I hope this helps!
