Is a 1480 SAT score good enough for the Ivies?

Hey everyone! I just got my SAT scores back and I received a 1480. I know the Ivy League schools are extremely competitive, so I'm wondering if a 1480 SAT score will be competitive enough for these colleges? Should I retake the SAT or should I focus on other aspects of my application? Thanks!

Hey there! Congratulations on your 1480 SAT score! That's an impressive accomplishment. While a 1480 is a great score, the Ivy League schools do tend to have higher average scores. However, each school evaluates applicants holistically, which means they'll consider other factors such as your GPA, extracurricular activities, personal essays, and recommendations alongside your SAT score.

It might be a good idea to research the average SAT scores at your target schools and gauge where you fall within that range. Keep in mind that many Ivies have a 'middle 50%' SAT range – meaning that 25% of admitted students score below that range. If you're close to or within that range, consider focusing on strengthening other areas of your application.

Best of luck with your college applications!
