How do colleges view online high school classes?

Hello! I'm a junior and I've taken a few online classes to supplement my regular high school coursework. I was wondering how colleges view these classes when considering my application. Are they seen as less rigorous or less valuable? Thanks for your help!

Hey there! I've been through the college application process with my child and I can assure you that colleges generally view online high school classes just as they would view traditional in-person classes. What's important is the content and rigor of the courses, as well as how they fit into your overall academic profile. If the online classes you took were challenging, relevant to your interests or future goals, and accredited, they should be seen as valuable by college admissions officers. Also, colleges have become more understanding and accepting of online courses, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just make sure to highlight your online classes in your application and explain why you chose to take them. You can even mention any unique skills you've gained through the online learning experience, such as time management and self-discipline. Best of luck with your college applications!
