Would a 33 ACT score be competitive enough for Ivy League admissions?

I got my ACT scores back and received a 33. I'm happy with it, but I'm unsure if it's competitive enough for the Ivy League schools I'm considering, like Penn and Brown. Should I retake the test or focus on other parts of my application? Any advice?

Congratulations on your 33 ACT score! That is definitely something to be proud of. While your score is quite strong, admission to Ivy League schools like Penn and Brown is typically highly competitive, with most successful applicants having a slightly higher score range (around 34-36).

However, it's important to remember that standardized test scores are not the only factor considered by the admissions committees. Schools also place a significant emphasis on other aspects of your application, such as your GPA, extracurricular activities, personal essays, and letters of recommendation.

You might consider retaking the ACT if you believe that you can improve your score with additional preparation. That being said, if you feel that your time and energy would be better spent focusing on the other parts of your application, I would recommend doing so. To sum up, while a higher ACT score might make you more competitive, your current score is still within the realm of possibility for Ivy League admissions, especially if other aspects of your application are strong.
