Colleges with journalism majors?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has a list of colleges with journalism majors? Just want to know what my options are before I start putting together my college list. Thanks!

Hello! I've put together a list of colleges with strong journalism programs to help you as you build your college list. This is by no means exhaustive, but it should give you a good starting point:

1. Northwestern University (Medill School of Journalism)

2. University of Missouri (Missouri School of Journalism)

3. University of Southern California (USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism)

4. Syracuse University (S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications)

5. New York University (Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute)

6. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Hussman School of Journalism and Media)

7. Indiana University Bloomington (The Media School)

8. Boston University (College of Communication)

9. University of Florida (College of Journalism and Communications)

10. University of Maryland, College Park (Philip Merrill College of Journalism)

While researching these colleges, be sure to check the specific programs and concentrations they offer within their journalism majors, as they may vary. Some will have a more traditional print and broadcast journalism focus, while others may also offer specializations in digital journalism, sports journalism, or investigative reporting, among others.

It might also be helpful to look at each college's alumni networks and internship/job placement rates in the journalism field. Journalism is a highly competitive field, so attending a school with strong connections to the industry could give you a leg up during your eventual search for a full time job.

As you create your college list, also consider factors such as location, campus culture, class sizes, and overall academic reputation, alongside the strength of the journalism program. After all, you want to be sure that you choose a school where you'll thrive personally and socially, as well as academically and professionally.

Finally, if you're looking for ways to pursue your passion for journalism while still in high school, check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which lists a range of journalism-related summer programs for high schoolers: https://blog.collegevine.com/high-school-journalism-summer-programs/. Participating in one could even give you a boost during the college process, as admissions officers love to see that you're taking initiative and exploring your interests outside of the classroom!

Best of luck with your college search, and future endeavors in the honorable field of journalism!
