Virginia Tech SAT Requirements?

Hello everyone, I'm currently a junior and interested in applying to Virginia Tech. Can anyone tell me what the SAT requirements are for admissions? Has it changed recently? I'd appreciate any info you have.

Virginia Tech is currently test-optional for undergraduate admissions, meaning that you have the choice to submit your SAT scores or not. This policy has been in place since the 2020-2021 application cycle and will continue for the foreseeable future. If you decide to submit your SAT scores, there are no strict minimum requirements for admissions; however, it can be helpful to look at the average scores of accepted students to get a sense of where you might want to aim.

For the Class of 2025, the middle 50% of enrolled students had an SAT score between 1190 and 1390. While this range can give you an idea of the scores for admitted students, it's important to remember that Virginia Tech uses a holistic admissions process. This means that multiple factors, such as your high school coursework, GPA, extracurricular involvement, and essays, will be considered alongside your test scores (if you choose to submit them).

If you decide not to submit your SAT scores, the other elements of your application will be weighed more heavily in the admissions process. To help make your application as strong as possible, focus on maintaining a solid GPA, challenging yourself with rigorous courses, and showcasing your passions through extracurricular activities and leadership roles. Additionally, spending time on your application essays can be crucial, as they provide a unique opportunity for the admissions committee to learn more about you as an individual.

Overall, whether you choose to submit your SAT scores or not, it's important to present a well-rounded application reflecting your strengths and character. Good luck with your application to Virginia Tech!
