What's the best way to showcase extracurricular activities in college applications?

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out the best way to present my extracurricular activities in my college applications. Should I focus on a few key activities or try to include everything I've been involved in? Any tips on how to make my extracurriculars stand out? Thanks!

Hey there! It's a great question to consider when working on your college applications. One piece of advice I can share from my own experience with my child's applications is to focus on quality over quantity. Colleges want to see your commitment and growth in a few key activities, rather than a long list of superficial involvement.

When describing these key extracurriculars, make sure to highlight your accomplishments and the impact you've had within each activity. Showcasing leadership roles, awards, or ways you made a significant difference can definitely help your activities stand out.

That being said, don't be afraid to mention any other activities you've been involved in, but try to keep the spotlight on those where you've made substantial contributions. For example, my child had a long-term commitment to their school's debate club, where they held leadership positions and won awards. That was the focus, while other activities were briefly mentioned.

I hope this helps, and best of luck with your applications!
