Recommended ACT score for UCSD?

Hey, I'm aiming for UC San Diego and I'd like to know what ACT score would give me the best chance of getting in. Any suggestions or experiences would be helpful! Thanks.

Although the UC system is currently test-blind and does not review standardized test scores at all, I can still offer some insight to help you gauge your academic profile against past UCSD applicant pools. However, please note that since UCSD will not look at your ACT score in the admissions process, focusing on other aspects of your application like your GPA, coursework rigor, extracurriculars, and essays will be more beneficial.

That being said, prior to the implementation of the test-blind policy, the middle 50% range of ACT scores for admitted UCSD students typically fell between 26-35. It's important to remember that this range represents the 25th and 75th percentiles of admitted students' scores, meaning that you would have a decent chance of being considered for admission if your ACT score fell within or above this range. Higher scores were considered more competitive, but a lower score wouldn't necessarily disqualify you, especially if the rest of your application showcased impressive accomplishments, leadership roles, and strong essays.

Given the current test-blind policy for UC schools, I recommend focusing on strengthening other areas of your application. Emphasize your extracurricular involvement, commitment, and leadership roles, as well as crafting well-written and compelling essays that show your personality and passion. Ensure you're taking a challenging course load in high school to demonstrate that you're academically prepared for UCSD. Good luck!
