Is a 1490 SAT score strong enough for Ivy League schools?

Hey guys, I recently got a 1490 on the SAT and I'm wondering if that's considered a strong score for Ivy League admissions. Should I be satisfied with this or consider retaking the test for a higher score? Any input would be appreciated!

Hey there! Congrats on your 1490 SAT score, that's definitely something to be proud of! When it comes to Ivy League schools, their average admitted students' scores usually range between the high 1400s to low 1500s. So, your 1490 is definitely within that range and is competitive for these schools.

However, it's important to keep in mind that Ivy League schools also place a significant weight on other aspects of your application - such as your GPA, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation. A strong SAT score is beneficial, but it won't guarantee admission since these schools have a holistic admissions process.

Now, whether or not to retake the test is really up to you. If you think there's room for improvement and you're willing to invest the time and effort, go for it! Keep in mind, though, that in most cases, improving other aspects of your application might have a bigger impact than a slight increase in your SAT score. Ultimately, aim for a well-rounded application and you'll be in good shape. Good luck! 😊
