Whats a good ACT Writing score?

Hey everyone, I've been studying for the ACT, but I'm a little unsure about the Writing section. Can you guys help me figure out what's considered a good ACT Writing score? Thanks in advance!

Hello! A good ACT Writing score depends on your goals and the colleges you plan on applying to. To give you a better idea of the scoring, ACT Writing is graded on a scale of 2-12, with 12 being the highest possible score.

In general, a Writing score of 8 or above is considered good and will be competitive at most colleges. However, more selective schools might look for a score of 9 or higher. To be on the safe side, aim for a score within the 60th-70th percentile (approximately 8-9) or higher to be considered strong across a range of institutions.

It's also important to remember that the Writing section is less significant compared to your Composite ACT score, which is the average of your English, Math, Reading, and Science sections. Colleges often place more emphasis on the overall Composite score, while the Writing score serves as an additional data point to evaluate your writing skills.

Always research the schools you're interested in and consider their average admitted student ACT Writing scores, if available, to get a better idea of what to aim for. Good luck with your test preparation!
