Is a 32 ACT score good enough?

Hey everyone! I just got my ACT score back, and I'm wondering if a 32 is a good score? I'm aiming for top-tier schools, but I'm not sure if my score is competitive enough. Thoughts?

Hi there! A 32 ACT score is considered quite strong and is generally in the 95th percentile, meaning you scored higher than 95% of test takers. This score is certainly competitive at many colleges and universities, including some top-tier schools. However, keep in mind that for the most highly selective schools (like the Ivy League), the average ACT scores for admitted students are often in the 33-36 range.

While your 32 ACT score might put you at a slight disadvantage compared to the average accepted student in some of these highly selective schools, it's important to remember that your score is just one component of your application. Admissions committees review various aspects of an applicant's profile, including GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and recommendation letters.

If you're satisfied with your 32 ACT score and feel that the rest of your application is strong, then go ahead and apply to your target top-tier schools. However, if you think you can improve your performance and raise your score, you might consider retaking the test. Keep in mind that many schools have gone test-optional recently, so having a strong application in other aspects will still give you a fighting chance even if your ACT score isn't perfect. Good luck!
