NYU Average GPA and SAT Score?

Hey guys, I'm really interested in applying to New York University. Does anyone know what the average GPA and SAT score are for incoming freshmen at NYU? I want to have a better understanding of what I need to shoot for. Thanks!

Hello! New York University (NYU) is a competitive school, and it's important to familiarize yourself with the general admissions profile of incoming students. For the Class of 2027, the middle 50% SAT score range is 1480-1550. To be in a good position for admissions, you should aim to score within that range or higher. Keep in mind, though, that NYU is still test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle, so you don't have to submit SAT or ACT scores if you feel they don't represent your abilities well.

As for GPA, the average (unweighted) GPA of an admitted student was 3.81 on a 4.0 scale Keep in mind that NYU also takes into account your course rigor, meaning that they will look favorably upon students who have taken challenging classes, such as AP or IB courses, when available at their school.

In addition to your GPA and test scores, make sure to showcase your extracurricular involvement, talents, and unique qualities through your application materials to make yourself stand out. Good luck!
