Hey all, I'm considering applying Early Decision to a college, but I'm also aware that it's a binding agreement. Is it a bad idea to apply to more than one school with binding Early Decision policies? I don't want to risk violating any rules, but I'm struggling to choose between a couple of top schools. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!
Hello there! It's important to understand the rules of Early Decision (ED) applications. When applying under a binding ED agreement, you should submit an application to only one school. If admitted, you must commit to attending that institution and withdraw applications from other schools.
Applying to more than one school with binding ED policies is unethical and could result in consequences. Your acceptances may be revoked if colleges find out you violated their ED agreements.
Take time to explore your options and narrow down your choices. Research each institution, visit their campuses if possible, and consider how well they align with your needs and goals. If you're still having difficulty deciding, consider applying via Early Action which is non-binding, or wait for Regular Decision.
