How can I predict my PSAT score?

Hey guys, I just took the PSAT and I'm feeling a bit stressed. Is there any way I can predict my score based on how I think I did? Thanks!

Hey there! While you can't precisely predict your PSAT score, you can get a rough estimate by using a few methods. First, count the number of questions you think you answered correctly in each section (Reading and Writing, and Math) and write those numbers down.

Next, consider the PSAT scoring scale for past years to get an idea of how scores are calculated. Typically, PSAT scores range from 160 to 760 for each section. To find the Selection Index, you'll add the Reading and Writing score and the Math score, and then multiply the sum by two. The Selection Index typically ranges from 320 to 1520.

You can compare this year's PSAT's difficulty to past tests you've taken—if this test seemed about average in difficulty, you can estimate that scores may follow a similar pattern to those previous years. Remember that the digital PSAT has two 32-minute modules for Reading and Writing with 54 questions, and two 35-minute modules for Math with 44 questions.

Keep in mind that guessing your score like this isn't foolproof, and the only way to know your actual score is to wait until the results are released by the College Board, typically around December. Use your estimated score just as a rough guideline. The best thing you can do now is relax and wait for your scores; worrying won't change the outcome. Good luck!
