Pitt's SAT score expectations

Hey y'all! I'm planning to apply to the University of Pittsburgh and I was wondering what kind of SAT score they usually expect from their applicants? I'd like to know if my current score is competitive or if I need to try and improve it. Thanks!

The University of Pittsburgh is moderately selective, and while they consider a variety of factors in their admissions process, having a competitive SAT score can definitely improve your chances of getting accepted. As of recent data, the middle 50% SAT range for admitted students was 1270-1450. This means that 25% of admitted students scored below 1270 and 25% scored above 1450.

Note that this range varies slightly depending on which school within Pitt you're looking at. For more information on the middle 50% SAT score ranges for individual schools within Pitt, check out this page: https://admissions.pitt.edu/first-year-student/class-profile/

To be competitive, you should ideally aim for a score within or above the relevant middle 50% range. However, don't forget that the admissions process is holistic and considers other factors like your coursework, GPA, extracurricular activities, and personal essays. If your SAT score is below the middle 50% range, it doesn't necessarily mean you won't be admitted, but you may need to showcase your strengths in other areas of your application.

If you think there's room for improvement and you have time before submitting your application, consider retaking the SAT to boost your chances. However, your focus should be on presenting a well-rounded application that highlights your academic and extracurricular achievements. Good luck!
