Will a 1400 SAT score hold me back from Ivy League schools?

Hi everyone! I recently took the SAT and scored a 1400. I've been considering applying to some Ivy League schools, but I'm worried my score isn't high enough. Is a 1400 SAT a deal-breaker for Ivies? Any advice is really appreciated!

Hi there! First off, congratulations on your SAT score - a 1400 is still a strong score. While it might be below the average for Ivy League schools, keep in mind that these universities look at more than just test scores when evaluating applicants. They consider various aspects of your application like your GPA, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation. A holistic approach in admissions means that a lower SAT score can be compensated for by other strengths you demonstrate.

My child recently went through the college application process, and they had a couple of friends who got into Ivy League schools with SAT scores in the 1400 range, thanks to their outstanding accomplishments in other areas. So, don't be discouraged! Focus on enhancing other parts of your application and show schools the unique qualities and experiences you can bring to their campus.

Good luck with your applications!
