Perfect Score PSAT

Hello everyone, I've been curious about the PSAT since I'll be taking it soon. What's the perfect score for the PSAT and how does it differ from the SAT? Are there any big differences I should be aware of in the structure of the test? Thanks!

Hello! The perfect score for the PSAT is 1520, while the perfect score for the SAT is 1600. The PSAT is slightly easier than the SAT, and the scoring scale reflects that difference. Both tests have the same sections: Reading and Writing, and Math.

The structure of the digital PSAT is as follows:

1. Reading and Writing: two 32-minute modules, to complete 54 questions. You have about 71 seconds per question.

2. Math: two 35-minute modules, to complete 44 questions. You have 96 seconds per question, or a little over a minute and a half.

The total duration of the digital PSAT is 134 minutes, to complete 98 questions.

As of spring 2024, both the PSAT and SAT went digital, and their structures became more similar. Now, both tests allow calculators in the Math section, unlike the previous paper-based version in which the PSAT had a no-calculator Math section.

Keep in mind that the PSAT is also referred to as the PSAT/NMSQT because it serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. A high score on the PSAT can qualify you for the prestigious National Merit Scholarship program.

It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the test format and practice using official resources like the Bluebook™ app, which allows you to preview the digital PSAT and take a full-length practice test. Good luck with your preparation, and I hope this information is helpful for you!
