Sending AP exam scores to colleges

Hey guys, I took a few AP exams last year and I'm starting to think about the college application process. How do I go about sending my AP exam scores to the colleges I'm applying to? Is there a fee involved, and if so, is there any way to minimize the cost? Thanks in advance!

Hello! To send your AP exam scores to colleges, you'll need to use the College Board's Score Reporting Services. Here's a quick step-by-step guide to help you send your scores:

1. Log in to your College Board account at apstudents.collegeboard.org.

2. Choose "Send Scores" from the menu.

3. Select the colleges you'd like to send your scores to by searching for their names or using their unique 4-digit code.

4. Confirm your selection and pay any applicable fees.

Each AP exam comes with a set of free score reports that can be used to send your scores to colleges (if you used this option, your scores were automatically sent to your selected colleges in July). However, if you didn't use the free score reports or need to send additional reports, there is a fee of $15 per college (as of September 2024). Fee reductions are available to qualifying students with financial need, which can be requested through your school's AP coordinator.

To minimize the cost, you can carefully consider which colleges require your AP scores during the application process and only send your scores to those institutions. Additionally, keep in mind that many colleges let you self-report your scores on your application and only require official score reports after you've been accepted and decide to enroll. Make sure to check each college's specific requirements in regards to AP exam score submission.

Good luck with your college applications!
