What's the cost of taking the ACT?

Hi everyone! Can someone please fill me in on the cost of taking the ACT exam? Is it more or less expensive compared to the SAT? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi there! As of the 2024-2025 testing cycle, the ACT registration fee is $68 without the writing section and $93 if you opt to include the writing section. These fees cover the test itself and sending your scores to colleges or scholarship agencies. If you need to make any changes to your test registration, such as changing your test center or test date, there is a $44 change fee per change.

In comparison, the digital SAT costs $60 without the essay (since the essay is no longer available). So, the ACT is slightly more expensive than the SAT, especially if you opt for the writing section.

Keep in mind, though, that both the ACT and SAT offer fee waivers to eligible students, which can cover the cost of the exam and score sending. To see if you qualify for a fee waiver, you'll need to talk to your high school counselor or another school official who can provide guidance on the process.

Good luck with your test preparation!
