UMich average GPA by major?

I was just curious, does anyone know the average GPA for students in different majors at the University of Michigan? I'm particularly interested in engineering and business.

At the University of Michigan, there isn't specific information readily available for average GPAs by major. However, I can give you an idea of the average overall GPA of admitted students and some information on the Ross School of Business and College of Engineering.

For the entire university, the average unweighted high school GPA of admitted students is around 3.8-3.9. Keep in mind that this might vary depending on the major or college within the school.

As for the College of Engineering, the average admitted student has an unweighted high school GPA of approximately 3.9. However, once accepted, college GPAs can vary and might be lower than high school GPAs due to the rigors of the engineering program. It's more common for engineering students to have lower college GPAs compared to other majors, as the coursework is typically more demanding.

The Ross School of Business, which houses the business program at the University of Michigan, does not publish the average GPA of its admitted students. However, the GPA of a successful applicant is likely quite competitive since the Ross School of Business is a highly-ranked undergraduate business program. Again, college GPAs can be different from high school GPAs, but business students at Ross tend to have slightly higher GPAs compared to engineering students because engineering courses are typically more challenging.

Keep in mind that GPA is just one factor in college admissions, and having a particular GPA doesn't guarantee acceptance into a specific program. It's also essential to consider other aspects like extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation when applying.
