UNCW ACT Scores

Hello! I'm in the process of applying to UNC Wilmington and I'd like to know the average ACT scores for admitted students. Can anyone provide some info on what score range would make me a competitive applicant?

Hello! The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is a great school, and it's essential to make sure your application is competitive. In terms of ACT scores, you may want to aim for a range that aligns with the middle 50% of admitted students' scores. At UNCW, the middle 50% ACT composite score range usually falls between 24 and 29. This means that 25% of admitted students have scores below 24, and another 25% have scores above 29.

Keep in mind that this is just a benchmark to aim for, and there is no strict cutoff. Admissions decisions at UNCW and many other schools are based on a multitude of factors, and a lower ACT score doesn't necessarily mean you won't get accepted. If your score falls just below the middle 50% range, make sure you showcase your strengths in other aspects like GPA, extracurricular activities, and your essays.

It's also worth noting that UNCW is test-optional through the 2024-2025 application cycle, so you ultimately have the option to not submit ACT scores at all if you feel that they do not accurately represent your abilities.

Best of luck with your UNCW application!
