SAT December test date: Is it too late for college applications?

Hey everyone! I'm considering taking the SAT in December of my junior year, but I'm worried that the scores might come in too late for college applications. Can someone please confirm if that is true? Thanks!

No need to worry! Taking the SAT in December of your junior year is definitely not too late for college applications. In fact, it's a good time to take the test because it gives you ample opportunities to retake the exam in case you need to improve your score or if you want to have multiple test dates to choose from. Most college applications have deadlines in January or later during your senior year, so you'll have plenty of time to receive your scores and submit them.

Since the SAT is now fully digital, you can expect your scores to be released quicker than before, often within 10 days. If you feel that you want to improve your score further, you will have multiple test dates in the spring and fall of your senior year too.

Keep in mind that some colleges offer Early Decision or Early Action deadlines, usually in November of your senior year. If you plan to apply to any schools with these earlier deadlines, make sure you have a satisfactory SAT score on hand before then.

Good luck with your test preparation and college applications!
