Confused about May 1st Decision Day

Hi all, I know May 1st is National College Decision Day, but as a junior, I'm still unsure of what I need to do by this deadline. Do I have to know which college I want to attend by May 1st, or is this more about submitting enrollment deposits? Really hoping for some guidance on what to expect!

Hi there! May 1st, National College Decision Day, mainly applies to students in their senior year of high school who have already received admissions decisions from colleges. By this deadline, seniors are expected to decide which college they'd like to attend and submit their enrollment deposit to secure their spot.

As a junior, you do not need to worry about this deadline yet. You still have time to complete your college applications, await responses, and consider your options. Once you become a senior and eventually receive your college acceptances, you'll have the opportunity to visit the schools, ask questions, and evaluate financial aid packages to determine the best fit for you. Then, by May 1st of your senior year, you'll be expected to submit your enrollment deposit to the college you've chosen.

In the meantime, as a junior, you should focus on maintaining your grades, preparing for standardized tests (if applicable), engaging in extracurricular activities, and researching potential colleges that may be a good fit for you. Good luck with the remainder of your junior year and your upcoming college application process!
