Florida State SAT requirements

Hi there! I've been researching Florida State University and I'm interested in their admissions requirements. Does anyone know the general range of SAT scores that FSU typically accepts? Also, is the ACT an alternative option, and if so, what are their preferred scores for that exam?

Hi! Florida State University (FSU) accepts both the SAT and ACT for college admissions. Although FSU doesn't publish a strict cutoff for SAT or ACT scores, you can have a better idea of your chances based on the middle 50% range of admitted students.

For the Fall 2023 entering class, the middle 50% range of SAT scores at FSU was 1250-1380, while the middle 50% range of ACT composite scores was 27-31. It's important to note that these numbers can change slightly for each admissions cycle, and applicants who fall outside this range may still be admitted based on other factors in their application.

Regarding the ACT as an alternative, yes, FSU does accept the ACT in lieu of the SAT. As mentioned above, the middle 50% range of admitted students' ACT scores was 27-31 in Fall 2023. Keep in mind that a strong GPA, well-rounded extracurriculars, and compelling personal statements may help compensate for a slightly lower test score. Good luck with your application!
