Hello! Can someone tell me the minimum GPA requirements for UC San Diego? I want to make sure my GPA is within the acceptable range before I apply. Thanks in advance!
UC San Diego, like other University of California (UC) schools, has a minimum GPA requirement for applicants. For California residents, the minimum required UC GPA is 3.0, whereas for out-of-state and international students, it's 3.4. Keep in mind that these are only the minimum requirements, and meeting them does not guarantee admission since UC San Diego is a highly competitive school.
Admitted students usually have a much higher GPA than the minimum requirement. For example, the middle 50% of admitted students in a recent year had a UC (capped) GPA between 4.11–4.29. To increase your chances of admission, it is a good idea to aim for a GPA above the minimum, preferably in the range of the middle 50% or higher.
In addition to your GPA, UC San Diego will also look at the rigor of your coursework, your extracurricular activities, personal essays, and other factors when evaluating your application. So even if your GPA might be on the lower end, a strong application in other areas could still make you a competitive applicant. Good luck with your application!
