Order of math levels in high school

Hey everyone! Quick question here. I wanna plan out my math classes for the rest of high school. What are the math levels in order typically taken by students during high school? I'm thinking about taking Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and so on. Thanks!

Hi there! It's great that you're planning your high school math classes in advance. The typical high school math progression is as follows:

1. Pre-Algebra (often taken in middle school)

2. Algebra 1 (often taken in middle school)

3. Geometry (taken in middle school by advanced/acclerated students)

4. Algebra 2

5. Pre-Calculus

6. Calculus (AP Calculus AB/BC for advanced students) or Statistics/AP Statistics

7. Further advanced math courses (multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, etc...)

Some high schools may offer options beyond Calculus, such as Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, or courses related to math in specific fields like Engineering, Computer Science, or Finance.

Please keep in mind that each school might have its curriculum, so it's essential to consult with your school's course catalog or speak with your school counselor to plan your math classes accordingly. They can help you choose the right courses for your ability level and future goals. Good luck with your high school math journey!
