Dealing with a schedule change and its impact on my application?

Hey everyone, I'm a junior, and I recently found out that my schedule for senior year might change, which means I might not be able to take a STEM AP class I was hoping to take. How will this impact my college applications, especially at competitive schools like Stanford and Northwestern, where I'm considering applying for engineering? Thanks for any advice!

Hey there! Don't worry too much about this schedule change. Although colleges like to see rigorous courses on your transcript, they also understand that not everything goes according to plan sometimes. What's important is that you're showing a consistent pattern of challenging yourself academically throughout your high school years.

There are other ways to demonstrate your interest and passion for engineering. For example, you could try joining an engineering club or getting involved in extracurricular activities related to the subject. Participating in engineering competitions or working on personal projects can also be great ways to showcase your skills. If possible, try to find another class that aligns with your interests and demonstrates your willingness to take on challenges.

Remember, college admissions are a holistic process, and one AP class won't make or break your application. Focus on maintaining a strong GPA, participating in extracurriculars, and writing compelling essays, and you'll be just fine, even at extremely selective schools. Good luck!
