1590 SAT score - worth converting to ACT?

Hey, guys! So I got a 1590 on my SAT, which I'm pretty happy about. However, I realized that some of my target schools seem to prefer the ACT. Is it worth converting my SAT score to an ACT equivalent, or is this high of a score good enough regardless?

Hi there! First of all, congratulations on your excellent SAT score of 1590! That's definitely an impressive achievement.

Now, in terms of converting your SAT score to an ACT equivalent, I would generally say that it's not necessary. A 1590 is an extremely strong score, and it should be more than enough to demonstrate your academic capabilities in standardized testing, regardless of whether a school appears to prefer the ACT over the SAT. It's important to remember that most colleges will accept either SAT or ACT scores, and your SAT score falls within the top percentile, making it highly competitive.

Additionally, keep in mind that taking the ACT would require you to dedicate time and energy to studying for another test. Given the strength of your current SAT score, I'd recommend focusing your efforts on other aspects of your application, such as your essays, extracurricular activities, and maintaining a strong GPA.

In summary, your SAT score of 1590 is already outstanding, and converting it to an ACT equivalent likely won't provide any additional benefit. Instead, concentrate on strengthening other areas of your college applications. Good luck!
