1260 PSAT Percentile - Where Do I Stand?

Hey guys, I'm a sophomore and recently got a 1260 on my PSAT. What percentile does this place me in? Just trying to gauge where I stand compared to others at this stage. Thanks!

Hey there! A 1260 on the PSAT as a sophomore is a solid start. To give you an idea of where you stand, percentiles for the PSAT can vary slightly each year based on the performance of students who took the test. However, generally speaking, a 1260 PSAT score would put you roughly in the 85th percentile, meaning you scored higher than about 85% of students who took the test. Keep in mind that the PSAT is not as important as the SAT itself, but it can still provide a helpful baseline to inform your SAT preparation.

Since you're a sophomore, you have time to improve your score before taking the SAT. If you're aiming for higher scores or more competitive colleges, you can consider preparing for the PSAT in your junior year, when you'll also be taking the PSAT/NMSQT for National Merit Scholar consideration. For now, focus on keeping your grades up, participating in meaningful extracurriculars, and finding resources that can help you prepare for the SAT when the time comes. Good luck in your future studies!
