How long is the AP Computer Science Principles exam?

Hey! I'm signed up for AP Computer Science Principles next year and I'm kind of stressed about the exam. Does anyone know how long the exam is and what I should expect in terms of timing and pacing?

Hey there! Don't stress too much; knowing what to expect going into the exam can definitely help ease your worries. The AP Computer Science Principles exam consists of two main parts: the Create Performance Task and the end-of-course multiple-choice exam.

The Create Performance Task is completed during the course as part of normal class time. You'll be tasked with developing a computer program and writing a response explaining your code. There's no set time limit for this part since you'll be working on it over an extended period during the school year. Just be mindful of your teacher's deadlines for submitting the task.

The end-of-course multiple-choice exam is timed, with a duration of 2 hours. You'll be asked to answer 70 multiple-choice questions within this timeframe, which gives you a little under 2 minutes per question. The questions will test your knowledge of computer science concepts and principles, as well as your ability to apply those concepts to solve problems.

To help with pacing, I recommend taking a few practice exams to familiarize yourself with the question formats and get a feel for managing your time. Good luck with your AP Computer Science Principles class, and remember to approach the exam with confidence!
