AP World History Course Description

Hey, I'm taking AP World History next year and I'd like to know more about the course. Does anyone have a link or info on the course exam description? I want to get a sense of the content, format, and what I should expect. Thanks in advance!

Hey! AP World History is a fascinating course that takes you through the major historical developments and processes that have shaped our world. The course covers six major time periods, starting from c. 1200 CE to the present, and is organized around thematic learning objectives, such as interaction among societies, technology and demography, governance, economic systems, and social structures, among others.

The AP World History course exam is divided into two sections:

1. Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs): You'll have 55 MCQs to answer within 55 minutes. These questions are organized into sets, with each set focusing on an excerpt, image, map, or data. You'll be tested on your ability to analyze historical texts and interpret data.

2. Free-Response Questions (FRQs): There are 3 FRQs to be completed within 2 hours and 25 minutes. This section is divided into:

- Short Answer Questions (SAQs): You'll get 3 sets of 2 SAQs, from which you must choose and answer one SAQ per set (3 in total).

- Document-Based Question (DBQ): You'll be given 7 documents based on a specific historical situation, and you must analyze these materials and craft an argument in response to the prompt.

- Long Essay Question (LEQ): You'll be given a choice between two LEQ prompts, and you'll need to choose one to answer.

To prepare for the course and exam, I'd recommend checking out the official College Board website for AP World History: Modern. Their course and exam description (CED) provides a comprehensive overview of the content and skills required, as well as sample questions and additional resources for practice. You can access the CED for AP World History: Modern by visiting the College Board website and navigating to their AP World History: Modern course page. Then click on "Course and Exam Description" to access the document.

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the class!
