AP Stat Equation Sheet

Does anyone know if we're allowed to use an equation sheet during the AP Stat exam? I feel like it would be super helpful. Also, if we can't use one, what are some important equations I should memorize? Thanks, guys!

You're in luck! The College Board does provide an equation sheet (also known as a formula sheet) for the AP Statistics exam, so you won't have to memorize all of the statistical equations for test day. This sheet is provided in both the multiple-choice and free-response sections, making it a handy resource throughout the exam.

While you don't have to memorize everything, it's still helpful to be familiar with common formulas and concepts so you can efficiently use your provided formula sheet during the exam. Some important equations and concepts you should make sure to be comfortable with include:

1. Descriptive statistics equations: such as mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation.

2. Probability rules: for example, the addition and multiplication rule for calculating the probability of independent and non-overlapping events.

3. Binomial probability formula and concepts related to binomial distribution, geometric distribution, and normal distribution.

4. Confidence intervals: understanding how to calculate and interpret confidence intervals for means, proportions, and the differences between two means or proportions.

5. Hypothesis testing: being able to perform and interpret t-tests, z-tests, and chi-square tests as well as calculate p-values, and understand type I and type II errors.

Having a good grasp of these equations and concepts will make it easier to use the provided formula sheet on the AP Stat exam. Try working through practice problems and getting comfortable with the material, so you can quickly find and apply the appropriate formulas during the test. Good luck!
