How much does ACT registration cost?

Hey fellow juniors! I'm about to register for the ACT soon and I was wondering how much it costs to register? Also, are there any fee waivers available for those with financial difficulties?

Hey there! The cost to register for the ACT without the writing section is $68, while registering for the ACT with the writing section costs $93. If you need to make any changes after registering, such as changing your test date or test center, there is an additional fee of $44 for each change made.

For students facing financial difficulties, the ACT does offer fee waivers. To qualify for a fee waiver, you'll typically need to be a U.S. citizen or testing in the United States, be in 11th or 12th grade, and fulfill certain eligibility criteria based on economic need. Some examples of eligibility criteria include being enrolled in a federal free or reduced-price lunch program, being enrolled in a program for economically disadvantaged students (such as TRIO or Upward Bound), or residing in a foster home. You should speak with your high school counselor to obtain a fee waiver, as they're the ones who distribute them.

If you qualify for a fee waiver, you'll receive benefits, including two free ACT test registrations (with or without the writing section), free score reports to send to colleges, and waived fees for certain other services. Remember that fee waivers are limited in number and are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to reach out to your counselor as soon as possible to secure one if you're eligible. Best of luck with your ACT preparation!
