Can I still have a shot at UCLA despite having bad grades?

Hello fellow applicants! So, here's my situation. I'm currently a junior with a 3.3 GPA. I know, not the greatest, especially for a top school like UCLA. Despite my bad grades, I have a strong background in extracurriculars, a part-time job, and substantial leadership roles. Is it still possible to get into UCLA, or should I just forget about it?

Hey there! It's always important to keep your expectations realistic, but don't count yourself out just yet. UCLA is competitive, but they look at more aspects of your application than just your GPA.

From what you've mentioned, you have a strong background in extracurricular activities, as well as leadership experience and a part-time job. These factors can help demonstrate your commitment, time management, and leadership skills, which can count in your favor during the application process.

Additionally, try to put extra effort into your remaining time in high school and focus on improving your GPA. Aim to excel in your senior year and consider taking some AP or honors classes to show your dedication. This, coupled with a strong essay and extracurriculars, might tilt the odds in your favor.

Ultimately, remember that college admissions can be unpredictable. While you should certainly consider applying to UCLA, make sure you have a balanced college list with safety, match, and reach schools. Best of luck!
