Thoughts on being an undecided major?

Hey guys! I'm currently a junior, and I'm unsure what I'd like to major in yet. Is it better to apply as an undecided major or should I choose a major for now and possibly change it later? I'll be applying to colleges like the University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and UT Austin. Thanks for your input!

Hi there! It's completely normal to be unsure about what you'd like to major in at this stage. Whether you should apply as an undecided major or select a major and change it later largely depends on the colleges you're applying to.

For schools like University of Michigan, Wisconsin-Madison, and UT Austin, applying as undecided could be a good choice as these colleges offer plenty of resources for exploring different majors. That being said, do some research on how competitive admissions are for different majors at these schools. In certain cases, it might be helpful to apply with an interest in a specific major and change it later, if needed.

Overall, the key is to keep an open mind and to communicate your curiosity to learn new subjects in your application. Don't stress too much about picking the perfect major now, as many students change their major once they're in college. Good luck!
