CalArts SAT Requirements: Are they necessary?

Guys, I'm confused about CalArts and its SAT requirements. Do they need SAT scores, or are they optional? And if they are required, what range of scores should I aim for?

CalArts is currently test-optional for the SAT, which means that submitting SAT scores is not required for admission, and you can choose whether or not to include them in your application. If you believe your SAT scores will strengthen your application and showcase your academic potential, you can send them. If not, you can apply without them, and your application will not be negatively impacted.

As a test-optional school, CalArts places greater emphasis on other aspects of your application, such as your artistic portfolio, academic performance, and letters of recommendation. Particularly since CalArts is an art school, admissions officers are more interested in understanding your creative talents, passion, and commitment to the arts.

If you decide to submit your SAT scores, there isn't a specific score range you should necessarily aim for. You can, however, find detailed guidance on how to navigate test-optional policies in general on CollegeVine's blog: https://blog.collegevine.com/does-test-optional-mean-test-optional/

Overall, since CalArts is focused on individual artistic potential, make sure to present a strong portfolio that showcases your artistic abilities and passion for your chosen discipline. At CalArts, your portfolio will have a greater impact on your admission chances than your SAT scores. Good luck with your application!
