How much time do we get for each section on the SAT?

Hey there! I'm starting my SAT prep and I've heard the timing on the test can be really challenging. Can someone break down how much time we get per each section, and how to manage that time effectively? Much appreciated!

Hello! The SAT has undergone some changes recently, and it is now a fully digital exam. The exam consists of two sections: Reading and Writing, and Math. Here's the breakdown of the time allocated for each section:

1. Reading and Writing: This section is divided into two 32-minute modules, during which you are expected to complete a total of 54 questions. This gives you about 71 seconds per question.

2. Math: This section is also divided into two 35-minute modules, with a total of 44 questions to be answered. You'll have approximately 96 seconds per question, which is around a minute and a half.

The total duration of the digital SAT is 134 minutes, where you'll complete 98 questions.

To manage your time effectively on the SAT:

1. Practice under timed conditions: Make sure to take full-length practice tests that mimic the actual test conditions. Becoming accustomed to the time constraints will help you improve your pacing.

2. Skip and return: If you come across a question that seems too challenging or time-consuming, skip it (or guess) and move on to the next one, to make sure you have time to fully consider the other questions that are more manageable. You can return to the difficult questions later when you have completed the rest of the section.

3. Monitor your time: Keep an eye on the test timer as you proceed through each module. While you don't want to overly fixate on it, tracking your time throughout the test will help ensure you don't spend too much time on a single question and make adjustments to your pacing if necessary.

4. Answer every question: Since there is no penalty for incorrect answers on the SAT, it's in your best interest to answer every question. Make educated guesses if you're unsure of an answer or have to guess because you're running out of time.
