ACT registration fees and price breakdown?

Hello! I'm looking into registering for the ACT, but I'm not quite sure about the cost. Can anyone help me understand what fees I should expect to encounter while signing up for the test?

Sure! As of the 2024-2025 testing cycle, the ACT registration fees are structured as follows:

1. ACT (no writing): $68 - This includes registration for the multiple-choice sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science.

2. ACT with writing: $93 - This option includes the multiple-choice sections along with the Writing section (essay).

Additional fees you may encounter are:

1. Late registration fee: $36 - If you miss the regular registration deadline, you'll need to pay this fee for late registration. Keep in mind that seating might be limited, so it's best to register before the regular deadline.

2. Standby testing fee: $68 - If you miss the late registration deadline but still wish to take the test, you can apply for standby testing. However, there's no guarantee you will get a seat, and this fee is only refundable if you aren't accommodated on test day.

3. Test date change fee: $44 - If you want to change your test date after registering, you'll need to pay this fee.

4. Test center change fee: $44 - If you want to change your test center after registering, you'll need to pay this fee.

Note that fee waivers are available to eligible students who meet financial requirements. Fee waivers cover the basic registration fee for either the ACT (no writing) or the ACT with writing option. Additionally, fee-waived students can also send their scores to up to 20 colleges for free, rather than the standard 4 free reports. To apply for a fee waiver, talk to your high school counselor, who can provide you with the necessary form and information if you qualify.

Keep in mind that these fees are accurate as of the 2024-2025 testing cycle, and they may change in the future. It's always a good idea to check the ACT website for the most current pricing and information. Good luck with your test preparation and registration!
