Hofstra Application Process

Hi everyone! I'm starting to work on my college applications, and Hofstra is one of my top choices. Does anyone know their application requirements (like deadlines, essay topics, or recommendation letters) and any tips for what they specifically look for in an applicant? A little stressed here, any help would be appreciated!

Hofstra offers three application deadlines:

1. Early Action 1: November 15

2. Early Action 2: December 15

3. Regular Decision: February 1 (rolling basis thereafter)

As for the application components, Hofstra accepts both the Common Application and the Coalition Application. The main essay prompt for the 2024-2025 application cycle for these platforms is usually a broad topic allowing you to share your story or an experience that has shaped you significantly. There is no specific prompt unique to Hofstra.

Hofstra recommends but does not require an additional optional supplemental essay, which can provide more context about your interests, extracurricular activities, or academic background. This essay is your chance to showcase your fit with the school and express your genuine interest in attending.

In terms of recommendation letters, Hofstra requires one letter from a high school counselor (or the equivalent) and one letter from a high school teacher. These letters should ideally come from individuals who know you well, can speak to your strengths and potential, and can highlight your academic and personal qualities.

Additionally, Hofstra is a test-optional school, meaning they do not require SAT or ACT scores for the 2024-2025 application cycle. If you think your standardized test scores are an accurate representation of your abilities and would strengthen your application, feel free to submit them, but it is not mandatory.
