Harvard's current SAT test-flexible policy?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows Harvard's current policy when it comes to the SAT. Are they still test-optional or test-flexible, or are they requiring scores again?

As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, Harvard University has discontinued its test-optional policy and has returned to requiring all applicants to submit either an SAT or ACT score. Previously, Harvard had temporarily adopted a test-optional policy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that has since expired.

When you apply to Harvard, you will need to include your standardized test scores as part of your application. Keep in mind that standardized test scores are only one aspect of the holistic review process that Harvard utilizes in its admissions decisions, but a high score is essential to be competitive at one of the most selective schools in the country.

If you're looking for tips on how to strengthen your overall application to Harvard, beyond just your test score, check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which breaks down how to tackle their school-specific supplemental essays: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-harvard-university-essays/

After all, at a school as selective as Harvard, most applicants have excellent academic credentials, so more intangible qualities, like those showcased in the essays, are often the thing that end up distinguishing one qualified applicant from another.

Good luck with your college applications!
