Is going to the gym a valid extracurricular activity?

Hi everyone! I'm a junior trying to build my extracurricular list for my applications. I go to the gym regularly and I'm really passionate about it, but is this something that could be considered an extracurricular activity? I'd appreciate any advice or input!

Hi there! It's great to hear that you're passionate about going to the gym and staying healthy. While going to the gym could potentially be considered an extracurricular, it often depends on the level of involvement and commitment you demonstrate beyond just working out regularly.

For example, if you participate in organized fitness-related activities like being part of a running club, leading workout classes, or volunteering your time to help others with fitness and nutrition, then it becomes a more compelling extracurricular to include on your application. Additionally, if you've achieved noticeable fitness goals or participated in competitions, that could be worth mentioning as well.

Ultimately, it's all about showcasing your dedication, interests and how they have shaped your character. It might not be as strong as an activity where you've shown leadership, teamwork or engagement with the community, but it's still worth considering if it's an important part of your life. Good luck with your applications!
