Can I take both the SAT and ACT?

Hey everyone, I'm a bit stressed about standardized testing and just wanted to know if there's any reason I shouldn't take both the SAT and ACT? Would taking both help improve my chances at college admissions?

Absolutely, you can take both the SAT and ACT. Many students choose to take both exams because they have slightly different formats and emphases. By taking both, you can determine which test suits you better and in which you're likely to score higher. You can then focus on studying for and retaking the test that better aligns with your strengths, improving your chances in the admissions process.

There isn't any downside to taking both tests, as most colleges accept both SAT and ACT scores. Plus, you can generally choose which scores to send, so submitting your stronger score can only help your application. Colleges often have a concordance table and will use the higher score (based on percentiles) during their application review.

When planning your testing schedule, make sure to allocate time for adequate preparation and potential retakes. Focus on the test that you believe suits you best and prepare accordingly. Remember that standardized testing is just one component of the holistic admissions process, along with academics, extracurriculars, essays, and more. Good luck!
