Hey, does anyone know the SAT score range for Long Island University? I'd really like to know what scores they typically accept, and if I should start focusing more on studying for the SAT.
Long Island University (LIU) has adopted a test-optional admissions policy for the 2024-2025 application cycle, which means submitting your SAT scores is not required. You can choose to include your SAT scores in your application if you believe they will enhance your overall profile, but it is not mandatory. If you don't include test scores, LIU will primarily focus on other aspects of your application, such as your GPA, extracurricular activities, and personal essays.
However, there can still be instances where submitting an SAT (or ACT) score can be a good idea, depending on the rest of your profile and how well you did on the test. As a general reference, the middle 50% of admitted students at LIU usually score between 1100 and 1300 on the SAT, so if you think you're likely to fall within that range, studying for the SAT with the goal of including your score could be worthwhile.
If you're unsure whether or not you want to take advantage of LIU's test-optional policy, I'd check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which contains detailed guidance on how to navigate these policies: https://blog.collegevine.com/does-test-optional-mean-test-optional/. Good luck!
