Is it better to get a B in an AP class or an A in a non-AP class?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to decide which courses to take next year, and I'm not sure if it's better to take AP classes and possibly get a B or stick to regular classes and maintain an A. What do colleges typically prefer or view more favorably when evaluating applicants? Thanks for any insights you can provide!

Hey there! I totally understand the dilemma you're facing - it's an important decision that many students (including mine) have to make. When it comes to college admissions, it's generally better to show that you're taking more challenging courses, such as AP classes. Colleges like to see students who are willing to take on more difficult coursework, as it demonstrates a good work ethic and a desire to learn.

However, it's important to make sure that you're not taking on too many AP courses at once and risking your GPA overall. If you can balance taking one or two AP classes and still maintain good grades in those classes, that would be ideal. And remember, some schools do consider weighted GPAs (which take into account the course difficulty), so a B in an AP class could still have a positive impact on your GPA.

In the end, it's about striking a balance that works for you and showcasing your abilities to take on challenging coursework. Best of luck making your decision!
