What's a 2.9 GPA equivalent to?

Hi peeps, I was just wondering if anyone could help figuring out what my 2.9 GPA is equivalent to in letter grades. Just trying to get a better idea for college applications. Thanks!

Hello! A 2.9 GPA is approximately equivalent to a letter grade in the B- to B range. Here's a rough breakdown of the GPA-to-letter-grade conversion:

A+ : 4.0 – 4.3

A : 3.7 – 4.0

A- : 3.3 – 3.7

B+ : 3.0 – 3.3

B : 2.7 – 3.0

B- : 2.3 – 2.7

C+ : 2.0 – 2.3

C : 1.7 – 2.0

C- : 1.3 – 1.7

D+ : 1.0 – 1.3

D : 0.7 – 1.0

D- : 0.3 – 0.7

F : 0.0 – 0.3

Keep in mind that colleges look at more than just your GPA when making admissions decisions. They also consider factors such as your course rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and standardized test scores (if required). If you feel your GPA is a weaker part of your application, focus on highlighting your other strengths and accomplishments, and consider retaking challenging courses if possible to improve your GPA. Best of luck with your college applications!
