UC Berkeley GPA Stats?

Hi, I'm wondering what the average GPA for admitted students at UC Berkeley is? I want to know if my GPA is competitive enough for applying there. Would appreciate any insight!

The average GPA for admitted students at UC Berkeley is quite competitive. For the most recent admissions cycle, the middle 50% range for unweighted GPA of admitted students was3.89-4.00, while the middle 50% range for weighted GPA was 4.28-4.62. Keep in mind that these are just averages, and there are admitted students with GPAs both above and below these numbers.

It's important to note that UC Berkeley, like other University of California schools, uses a unique GPA calculation method. They calculate your UC GPA using only your 10th and 11th-grade coursework in A-G subjects. Additionally, while most UCs cap the UC GPA by setting the maximum number of additional grade points for state-approved honors courses, AP, and select IB courses at 8, UC Berkeley (and UCLA) do not cap their UC GPA.

While GPA is a significant factor in admissions decisions, UC Berkeley also considers other aspects of your application, such as your extracurricular activities, personal insight questions, and the rigor of your coursework. If your GPA is slightly lower than the average, don't be discouraged – focus on showcasing your strengths and passions in other parts of your application. A strong application overall will improve your chances of getting accepted.
