Do Ivy League schools interview all applicants?

Hey everyone, does anyone know if Ivy League universities interview every single applicant or just certain candidates? If they don't interview everyone, how do they decide who is offered an interview? Thanks!

Hi there! As a parent of a student who went through the college application process, I'd be happy to help answer your question. Ivy League schools do try to interview as many applicants as possible, but it's not always feasible for them to interview everyone.

The availability of interviews often depends on the number of alumni interviewers in an applicant's geographic area. Ivy League schools rely on their alumni network to conduct interviews, so if there aren't enough interviewers available, some applicants might not receive an interview opportunity. It's important to understand that not being offered an interview does not reflect negatively on the applicant.

If a candidate is offered an interview, it's typically on a first-come, first-serve basis, and usually not based on the strength of their application. As a general guideline, focus on putting together a strong application and try not to worry too much about the interview process! Best of luck in your college journey!
