Little-known scholarships?

Hi everyone! I'm a junior and I'm starting to look into scholarships to help fund my college journey. I'm aware of the big, well-known scholarships, but I'm curious to know if there are any lesser-known, unique, or niche scholarships that I could apply for. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hi there! It's true that there are more unique, lesser-known scholarships out there that might face less competition compared to the widely recognized ones. Here are a few examples of niche scholarships that might interest you:

1. Doodle for Google Scholarship: This annual contest encourages students in grades K-12 to create a Google Doodle around a designated theme. The winner receives a scholarship of up to $30,000.

2. Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarship: Open to high school seniors, this scholarship is geared towards those who have demonstrated dedication to promoting a vegetarian lifestyle in their communities. The award is up to $10,000.

3. Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest: Duck Tape sponsors this contest each year, where students create their prom outfits out of Duck Tape products. Winners can receive up to $10,000 in scholarships.

4. Create-a-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest: In this competition, students are required to design the front image for a greeting card. The scholarship award is up to $10,000.

5. Unigo Flavor of the Month Scholarship: This fun essay competition requires students to write a short essay based on an ice cream flavor that "best encapsulates their personality.” The winner receives a $1,500 scholarship.

6. Tall Clubs International Scholarship: If you meet the height requirement (5'10" for females and 6'2" for males), you may be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship from Tall Clubs International.

It's important to keep an eye out for scholarships and start considering them early on, as you're doing. You'll want to research local scholarships as well, as these often have a smaller applicant pool, increasing your chances of being awarded. Look for opportunities through community foundations, local businesses, or your school's guidance office.

Finally, don't forget to use scholarship search engines like Fastweb, Cappex, and CollegeVine's Scholarship Search Tool to find more opportunities tailored to your profile. Good luck with your search!
