How can I find my unweighted GPA?

Hey! I've been trying to figure out my unweighted GPA, but I'm not exactly sure how to calculate it. Does anyone know any tools or websites I can use to find my unweighted GPA? Thanks!

Hello! Calculating your unweighted GPA is pretty straightforward. Unweighted GPA is typically calculated on a 4.0 scale, with each letter grade corresponding to a specific point value: A (4.0), B (3.0), C (2.0), D (1.0), and F (0.0). Some schools also give different point values for plus and minus grades, such as A- (3.7) and B+ (3.3).

To calculate your unweighted GPA, simply follow these steps:

1. Convert each of your letter grades to their corresponding point values.

2. Add up all the point values you obtained in step 1.

3. Divide the total points by the number of classes you have taken.

For example, if you took 7 classes with grades A, B+, B, B-, C+, A-, and A, you would convert these grades to respective point values like: 4.0, 3.3, 3.0, 2.7, 2.3, 3.7, and 4.0. Add these values together (22.0) and divide by 7 (the number of classes). Your unweighted GPA would be approximately 3.14.

There's also a helpful online GPA calculator available at CollegeVine: https://www.collegevine.com/gpa-calculator/. Just enter your grades and the calculator will do the work for you.

Keep in mind that different schools may have slightly different grading scales. Make sure to check with your school's guidance counselor to confirm your school's specific scale.
