What's the required GPA for UNC Chapel Hill?

Hey guys, I'm a junior eyeing UNC Chapel Hill as one of my dream schools. I was wondering, what's the typical required GPA for admission? I mean, I know GPA isn't everything but I'd love to know where I stand and whether I have a shot.

UNC Chapel Hill is a highly competitive school; to be eligible, students must either earn at least a 2.5 weighted high school GPA or score a minimum SAT of 1010 or ACT composite of 19.

The average GPA of admitted students is typically around 3.8-3.9 (unweighted). However, keep in mind that these numbers can vary from year to year and are just an average.

Although GPA is an important factor in college admissions, it's not the only aspect that UNC Chapel Hill considers. Admissions officers also look at course rigor, test scores (if submitted, as UNC Chapel Hill is currently test-optional), extracurricular activities, essays, and other application components. Demonstrating a high level of involvement in extracurricular activities and a strong talent or passion in a specific field can also help to offset a slightly lower GPA.

It's important to remember that admissions are holistic, meaning that all parts of your application are considered together, and applicants with lower GPAs may be admitted based on their well-rounded profile. Keep focusing on maintaining your GPA, take challenging courses, and dedicate yourself to extracurricular activities that showcase your strengths and interests. Good luck!
